APOCALYPSE NOW is pure literature disguised as a war film. It is "Heart of Darkness" adapted, after all. But that doesn't change the fact that it's an untouchable war film by simple war-film standards. Then again, if you're going to call a spade a spade, you might as well just go ahead and call the screenplay literature.
Although not often listed as a top war movie, INGLOURIOUS BASTARDS is a screenplay that should be read. Tarantino scripts are always enjoyable with plenty of grit and perverse humor. His humor especially thrives in the context of war mockery.
